About Artist

Vincent Willem Van Gogh was born on 30 March 1853 in Zundert, Netherlands. He was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is regarded as the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. He is also considered to be the greatest Dutch painter after Rembrandt. He struggled with mental illness and some of his greatest works were created while he was in the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum like “The Starry Night” which he created in 1889. He created several paintings on the bedroom and his house which was called as Yellow House where he stayed in Arles, France. He also worked on several paintings under the title called Saintes-Maries. He led a very miserable life and was financially very poor. He made around forty self-portraits as he often lacked the money to hire model to pose for his artworks. He died on 29 July 1890 when he was only 37 years old in Auvers-sur-Oise, France.
